Natalie Marion (Wells) Monty 82, of Storrs, Ct died unexpectedly on Sunday May 9, 2004, surrounded by all of her family. She was born June 1, 1921 to Lena (Skinner) Wells and Arthur A. Wells of Epsom, N.H. She was predeceased by: her husband Lt. Col. Percy A (Buck) Monty, infant daughter Lois, and her brothers Donald and Neal Wells. She is survived by her children: Sirkka Campbell and her husband Dennis and their children Lisa and Darice of Beavercreek OH, Percalie Boucher-Williamson and her husband Bruce Williamson and their children Michelle, Deborah, and Christopher of Manchester CT, Phillip Monty and his wife Jeanne and their son Christopher of Willington CT, Karl Monty and his wife Michelle and their son Adam of Preston, and Jo Ouellette and her husband John and their children Ambre, Lena, Jan and James of Mansfield CT. She leaves 4 great grandchildren: Jacob, Isaiah, Olivia, and Joshua. She is also survived by her two sisters Norma Keeler and her husband Duane of Meredith NH and North Fort Myers FL, and Naida Gay and her husband Francis of Wildwood FL. She graduated from Pembrook Academy NH in 1938 and received her RN Nursing Cap from NH Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Concord NH in 1941. She returned to Nursing School at the age of 58 and received her Family Nurse Practitioner Degree (FNP). She married her high school classmate in Percy Monty on September 3, 1942. They traveled extensively in Europe during his military career ending at the ROTC program at the University of Connecticut in Storrs where she made her home for the next 44 years. She worked in hospital nursing, public health nursing, private duty and doctors offices prior to joining the UCONN Health Services, retiring in 1988 after 25 years of service. Natalie was an avid gardener and stamp collector and a generous supporter of UCONN athletics. She will be remembered for her wisdom, generosity, and dedication for helping others. She dedicated countless hours knitting and sewing for projects through the First Church of Christ Mansfield and Windham Area Interfaith Ministry (WAIM). Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Church of Christ, Congregational in Mansfield Center on Wednesday May 12 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to New Alliance Bank in Mansfield for a Nursing Scholarship to be established in her name.
