Natalie Hughey

Natalie (Juwa) Hughey, 80, of Windham, passed away on March 18, 2011 at Regency Heights. Natalie was born in North Franklin on January 25, 1931. She was the daughter of Josephine (Szczepaniak) and Jakob Juwa. Natalie loved to dance and to make music. As a young woman, she played the accordion in her father's band and later in life wrote and had recorded a song called "Borrowed from Time". She was also a published poet and a noted nature photographer. An animal lover, Natalie would feed the birds and other animals during the harsh winter months and sustained many a feral kitty at her back door. Her laughter and positive attitude drew people to her and she made friends easily. She will be greatly missed for her practical spirit and generous heart. Natalie is survived by her sister Jennie Uzialko of Bethlehem, PA; niece Lenora Uzialko of Martinez, CA; nephew Larry O'Connell of Hartford and niece Kathy Zima of Coventry. Natalie is predeceased by brother Bernard and sister Irene. A memorial service will be held for friends and family at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to an animal rescue organization of choice. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic assisted with arrangements.
