Nancy Major Obituary
Nancy J. Major, 83, of Windham, CT passed away on January 26, 2021. She was born in Island Pond, VT and raised by her grandparents Alfred and Delphine Berry.
Nancy moved to Coventry, CT in 1957 and Manchester, CT in 1961. She then moved to North Windham where she lived since 1998. Nancy became a resident at St. Joseph Living Center in August 2015, after a stroke. Nancy was very active in her church’s women’s club, their monthly widow support group, and the Windham Senior Center. She was a part of the National Council of Catholic Women, attended the weekly Adoration at St. Joseph Living Center and later at St. Mary’s Church. Nancy was also a volunteer at St. Joseph Living Center. Nancy was a very sweet, caring, loving, and sincere person who never had a mean thing to say about anyone. She was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her children, Cynthia (Major) and Douglas Nowak of Windham, CT, Bruce and Marie Major of Manchester, CT, and Maryjane (Major) and Desmond Belske of N. Windham, CT; grandchildren, Kevin and Alicia (Montigny) Nowak, Jeffrey and Claire Nowak, Melinda (Major) and Don Houde, Nichole (Major) and Jason Roberts, Alyssa Belske, Brianna (Belske) and Robert Julian, and Jennifer and Jeff Bakowski; great grandchildren, Lily Nowak, Bryce Nowak, Wyatt Roberts, Willow Roberts, Faith Bakowski, and Eleanor Bakowski; sisters in law, Pierette (Major) Bryant and Suzanne Major; Godson, Robin Major; cousin and best friend, Cecile Morissette; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Laurent J. Major in 2001.
Her funeral service will be private for immediate family, only.
