Nancy Deuel Obituary
Nancy Jean Deuel, a beacon of loving kindness and gentle grace, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, in Brooklyn, Connecticut. Born on December 1, 1944, in Willimantic, Connecticut, to Antonio and Irene (Burns) Cerreto, Nancy's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, work, and many passions.

Nancy's early years were spent in the nurturing company of her parents and siblings. She graduated from Windham High School in 1962, carrying fond memories and friendships that would last a lifetime. Nancy's heart found its match when she married the love of her life, William Deuel, and together, they welcomed their son, Peter, who would become the center of Nancy's world.

Professionally, Nancy dedicated many years as a secretary at the UConn School of Education, where her warmth and efficiency were appreciated by colleagues and students alike. Her work was not just a job; it was a community where she formed lasting relationships and made a significant impact through her involvement and support.

Nancy's interests were as varied as they were rich. She found joy in the clatter of bowling pins, the serenity of the golf course, the intricate beauty of needlepoint, and the immersive worlds within the pages of a good book. These activities were not mere hobbies but extensions of Nancy's love for life and her desire to share moments of joy with others.

Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and gentle, Nancy's presence was a comfort and a source of strength. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was sought after, and her ability to listen made her a confidante to many.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, William; her cherished son, Peter; her loving sisters, Elaine Brousseau and Janice (Tim) Nuhn; her caring brother, Bobby (Judith) Cerreto; and her sister-in-law, Fran Cerreto. She was predeceased by her sister, Madeline Gamache Fitzgerald, and her brother, Vincent Cerreto.

Nancy's legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering support, and the gentle touch that could soothe any sorrow. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Nancy Jean Deuel's life was a testament to the beauty of a kind spirit, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle soul.

There will be calling hours held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT.
