Nancy (Pickett) Anthony, 72, of Willimantic and Fort Myers, FL., passed away peacefully on Monday July 25, 2011 at St. Joseph Living Center after a short battle with cancer. She was born on June 10, 1939 in Willimantic to Richard and Helen (Killourey) Pickett. Nancy was a graduate of Windham High School and Eastern Connecticut Teacher's College (ECSU) and was a first grade school teacher in the Vernon Public School System and later worked alongside her husband at their family business in Willimantic, Hurley's. She married Richard H. Anthony on Feb. 20, 1964 at St. Columba Church in Columbia. Nancy was very active in Parent Teacher's Organization when her children were young, enjoyed working on her gardens and going to the beach, was an avid UConn Huskies and Boston Red Sox fan and loved watching her grandchildren grow. She was very strong in her fight with Multiple Sclerosis, which she lived with for 25 years. In addition to her husband Richard, she is survived by her daughter and son in law Beth and Gary DeCarli of Fort Myers, FL; daughter Lynn Anthony of Ludlow, VT, grandchildren Griffin DeCarli of Ft. Myers, and Wyatt and Mackenzie Koch of Ludlow; brother John Pickett of Englewood. FL, many beloved nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. "She smiled and the clouds rolled away." Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday July 27th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 28th at 12:00pm at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly directly at the church.
