Myrtle (Morse) Hinckley Barden, 98, one of Lebanon's oldest residents, died February 12, 2011 at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Hinckley, and her second husband, Walter Barden, as well as her brother, Roland Morse. Her parents were Julia and Erwin Morse. Born in Willimantic's St. Joseph Hospital on September 17, 1912, she graduated from Windham High School in 1930. Over the years she worked as a secretary in the offices of the Willimantic Trade School, Willimantic Building and Loan, and Dr. Nathan Spector. She was a fifty-year member of Columbia Grange. Following the death of her first husband she built a house in Lebanon on Beaumont Highway where she lived for forty years until her death. Her interest in crafts, antiquing, gardening and cooking were evident to one and all who visited her home. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Emerson and Vivian Morse of Berlin, NH; two cousins, Barbara Brown and Doris Surridge; several nieces and nephews including Barbara Drum who was her caregiver and a dear friend Rod Vincelette. Her family will receive relatives and friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday Feb. 15th between 1:30 and 2:00pm with the funeral service beginning to 2:00pm.
