Myrna "Minin" Rodriguez Obituary
Myrna “Minin” Rodriguez was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who received her promotion to glory on February 8, 2022, at the age of 78 when she went to sleep and woke up to the face of God.

She was born to Telesfora Velez and Antonio Colon on July 3, 1943 in Anasco, Puerto Rico.  She migrated from Puerto Rico to Willimantic in 1962, where she resided for 60 years and was a cherished community member. In the 80s, she worked for Mansfield Training School until she became disabled. Yet, she did not let her disability prevent her from helping people. In 1999 she received an award for volunteering at Windham Area Interfaith Ministry, where she selflessly contributed her time and energy. She was not only a volunteer, but she was also an activist helping State Representative Susan Johnson register Hispanic voters and drive them to the voting polls. She was passionate about helping people from all walks of life. Whenever she entered a room, she would light it up with her endearing personality and contagious laugh. She kept people rolling in laughter because she could find humor in the most mundane situations. She loved traveling and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed shopping, decorating her pristine apartment, and going to the Boombox parade. Her presence in this world will be missed, but heaven has gained an angel.

She is survived by her siblings Julia Ramos, Leonides Colon, Dinora De Jesus, and Manuel Colon, her children: Nancy Martinez-Fuentes, Brenda Martinez, Merari Velez, and Abel Rodriquez. In heaven, she joins her two sons, Neftali Martinez and Andre Altiere. She also leaves her grandchildren Eileen Borgos, Ciarra Yantin, Cristian Arce, Kayleen Flores, Robert Velez, Krystal Tennis, Ryan Velez, Jose Velez Jr., Luis Fuentes, Angel Fuentes, Jacob Fuentes, Selenia Fuentes, Rebecca Cooper, Benjamin Martinez, and ten great-grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 5:00pm-6:00pm for calling hours followed by a funeral service at 6:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT.   It will be a celebration of her life, so please wear your colorful Sunday best.

Burial will be on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10:00am at the New Willimantic Cemetery, RT 32, Willimantic, CT.
