Mildred D. (James) Larkins, 91, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend, went home to her Lord to be reunited with her late beloved husband Earl on Friday, March 11, 2016. She was born Willimantic, the daughter of Robert and Grace (Paton) James. Mildred will be remembered for her countless acts of kindness, unconditional love for her family and for each friend whom she considered family. She freely gave her time to many volunteer activities including knitting hats and crocheting many afghans for various church charities. Mildred was the family messenger and made sure to make her round of daily calls to family and friends, even in her illness. She had a ready smile and was fiercely proud of her family and her home and is now at peace. Mildred is survived by her children, George W. Larkins (Donna), Joanne G. Larkins (Edilberto), Michael R. Larkins (Ana), and Charles E. Larkins, her youngest son who provided loving and excellent care for his mom during the last year of her life; five grandchildren: Damian, Trevor, Mark, Carolina, and Eddy, three step grandchildren: Michael, David, and Rebecca, a sister Olive and many nieces and nephews. Their families and her friends, sent many cards, notes and called Mildred in her last days. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 1:00pm at The First Baptist Church of Mansfield, 945 Storrs Rd (Rte. 195), burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Spring Hill Road at the junction of Davis Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mildred's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. We love her and will feel her presence for the years to come.
