Mildred Lyman Hall of Mansfield Center, CT. died on Sunday November 5 2006 at the age of one hundred and one. Mrs. Hall was born in Springfield MA. on July 13, 1905, the daughter of Edwin Hall Lyman Sr. and Anna McCarthy Lyman. She was educated at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City, NY., receiving a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in English. Her career as a college professor of English and Drama was long and illustrious. She held teaching positions at Vassar College, Rutgers University, The University of Connecticut, and Eastern Connecticut State College, retiring in 1970. In addition to teaching numerous courses in English, she directed hundreds of theatrical productions. Married to the late Edwin Harrison Hall, an officer with the Willimantic Trust Company, the couple lived in Mansfield Center beginning in 1954. Mrs Hall was a member of the Mansfield Center Grange, and the First Church of Christ. She is survived by her nephew Edwin F. Lyman of Longmeadow, MA her great-nephew Cadet Lieutenant Edwin G. Lyman, U.S. Military Agademy West Point, NY., and her niece Karen L. Groth of Bellair, FL. Calling hours will not be held. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday November 11, 2006 at 1:00pm at the First Church of Christ Congregational, corner of Rte. 195 and Brown's Rd. in Mansfield Center .
