Miland T. Upton, 79, of Storrs, formerly of Ashford, husband of Marion (Ducat) Upton, died Wednesday Aug. 23, 2006 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born April 11, 1927 in Ashford, the son of Almond Upton Sr. and Mary (Busse) Upton. Mr. Upton was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War and was a retired livestock inspector for U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. For many years he had enjoyed bowling at Willi Bowl. The N.Y. Yankees was his favorite baseball team and he enjoyed playing cards. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son David of Danielson, a daughter Cheryl Green Upton of Stafford Springs, 2 brothers, Robert and Harold both of Ashford, a sister Bertha Neff of Coventry, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Charlene Upton and a brother Almond Upton Jr. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00am at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St., (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Interment in St. Philip Cemetery Ashford will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Coventry, P.O. Box 355, Coventry, CT. 06238.
