Michelle "Mickey" Bigelow, 56, of Willimantic, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2010 at her home after a long illness. She was born on October 25, 1954 in Willimantic, the daughter of Raymond and Jacqueline Bigelow. Mickey attended St. Joseph School and Windham High School. She worked for and retired from the State of CT Department of Transportation. Besides her parents she is survived by a son Robert Lucey and a grandson Maze of FL, two sisters Joanne Bigelow and Jacqueline "Jackie" Francouer of Bonita Springs, FL, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also a great aunt. Mickey was a beautiful person inside and out and was an extremely hard worker. She was a giving and loving person, who was always willing to help someone out whether she knew them or not. To everyone, Mickey was the most unselfish, generous, caring and compassionate friend loved by all. She dedicated her life to everyone but herself. The greatest gift Mickey had to offer was her desire to go out of her way to show her love and care to help others. She will remain a positive loving presence in our minds and hearts forever. Mickey loved spending the winter months with her family at St. Augustine FL. While in Florida she took care of the landscaping on the family property along with her best friend, her mother. Mickey also enjoyed working in the yard back home in Connecticut. She also loved shopping at thrift stores and tag sales when in Connecticut. During the summer months she loved camping at Hammonasset Beach State Park with her mom and dad. She made many friends while camping. Mickey will be sadly missed by all who knew her, but she will not be forgotten. In honor of her wishes there will be no calling hours. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday November 13, 2010 at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT 06226. A celebration of her life will take place after the cemetery at the American Legion Hall on Rte. 14 Willimantic.
