Michael Szlavi, 42, of North Windham, companion of Lisa Desmarais of Canterbury, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 in Canterbury. He was born July 31, 1964 in Windham, the son of the late Rudolph and Theresa (Landauer) Szlavi and had lived in Columbia most of his life. He was employed for over 10 years at Gates GMC in North Windham. Mike loved auto racing, the outdoors and was willing to do anything to help out other people. In addition to his companion, he is survived by 4 children, Jessica Szlavi of Willimantic, Crystal Szlavi and Casey Szlavi of South Windham, Nathan Szlavi of Canterbury, a brother, Joseph Szlavi of Columbia, a sister, Maria Szlavi of Windham, several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be private.
