Michael O'Connor Obituary
Michael J. O’Connor, 81, of Brooklyn, CT passed away on September 20, 2022. He was born in New London, CT, the son of the late James and Margaret (Carroll) O’Connor.
Michael was a member of the Our Lady of LaSallette in Brooklyn. He enjoyed being a member of the church choir, a Eucharistic Minister, and Lector. He was a religious education teacher and director of Religious Education. Michael was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered in Brooklyn with the Little League Softball. Also, a member of the Mystic Seaport, the Railroad Museum of New England and the CT Eastern Railroad Museum. He was a civil war buff.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Fitzgerald) O’Connor; children Christine O’Connor, Suzanne O’Connor and her husband Jon, and Maureen O’Connor and her husband Jim; stepchildren Mark Chapel and his partner Julie Richards, Julie Chapel and her husband Neal, Holly Johnson and her husband Brad, Kevin Chapel; stepdaughter in law Lynn Burdick; grandchildren Catherine, William, Joe, Lauren, Zachary and Nicholas. He was predeceased by his stepson Michael Chapel.
Michael’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 41 Cedar Swamp Rd. Hampton with the burial following at North Cemetery in Hampton.
