Michael Foster, 61, of Lake Park, FL and Willimantic, CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home in Willimantic. He was the son of the late Lester and Yvette (Dumais) Foster, living most of his life in the Willimantic area before moving to Florida. He graduated Windham High School class of 1970. Michael's natural musical talents became a lifelong passion that included pursuits as a bandleader, songwriter and arranger, multi-instrument performer, and recording artist. He founded and led local bands, such as The Grey Controversy and The Foster Brothers. He was a member of the Shaboo AllStars and went on to perform with national artists such as Mitch Ryder and Buddy Guy. His songwriting blossomed and he proudly formed and recorded with his band, Avalanche, showcasing his own material. During his years in Florida, he played in various bands including Danny Moon and the Stars, The Juke Box Band, Captain Ed and the Barrier Reefers, Larry "Hot Curl" Figaro, The Misbehavin' Band, Rhyan Leffingwell, No Strings Attached and Acoustic Remedy. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his loving partner, Stephanie Krowka; and his family, Mark Foster, David and Marilyn Foster; step sisters, Holly Best and Heather Rhodes Carija; a step brother and his wife, Jeffrey and Carol Rhodes; aunt, Joycelyn Dumais; nephews, Benjamin, Jeffrey, Alexander Stone, and Ivan Carija; niece, Rebecca Donato; numerous cousins and extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his mother, father and step mother, Phyllis, and his sister, Suzanne Stone.
