Michael Cutlip Obituary
Michael B. Cutlip, 82, of Mansfield, CT passed away on December 1, 2023 after having favorite meal and spending time with his family going through photos and cards. He was born on September 21, 1941, the son of Wilma and B. Cutlip, who were educators within the public schools of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Michael received his doctorate in Chemical Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he met and married his wife of 57 years, Susan Fontenelle Cutlip (nee Kramer).  The newlyweds moved in 1966 to Connecticut where Michael began his life-long career as a professor of chemical engineering and an administrator at the University of Connecticut, Storrs.  Over the years Mike published a wide array of articles in scholarly journals and established a corporation with colleagues from Israel that marketed engineering software around the world.  During his sabbaticals he taught at Cambridge University in England and at a University in Sydney, Australia.  Throughout their married life, Michael and Susan resided in Willimantic, Connecticut, with their son Logan (born in 1969) and their late daughter Lauren (born in 1972).  They have also been blessed with grandchildren, Jonathan Carrier and Amanda Carrier, and a great grandson Avery.  The family has vacationed over the years with Susan’s sister Joyce Kramer and her children, Alan Thomas and Marna Thomas.  Their extended family also includes grand nephews and nieces John, Nina, Kai, Sierra, Portland, and Thomas. The family thanks the staff at the Ivy in Ellington, Connecticut, and the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Storrs, Connecticut, where Michael and Susan have been residing and have received excellent care this past year.
