Merrill "John" Jones

October 5, 1938 — January 11, 2019

Merrill (John) Homer Jones, 80, of Andover, died Friday, January 11, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Windham, CT, the son of the late Merrill and Irene (Nolan) Jones. He was a Navy Veteran and he had a love for the water ever since. One of John?s proudest legacies was building and co-running Kathy-John?s restaurant in Storrs. He took pride in working side-by-side with his two daughters and former wife. In retirement, he lived on Andover Lake. He had a passion for golfing and enjoyed boating throughout his life. Most recently he enjoyed boating on Columbia Lake and the Connecticut River with his family, especially his three teenage grandchildren. What Merrill enjoyed most was simply being around his family. His daily gift to them was his presence and the ability to lend a hand, fix anything that needed fixing and help out in any way that was needed. Merrill is survived by two daughters, Amanda Boukus and Deborah Lagan; two sisters, Eileen Van Tamelen and Nancy Grange; four grandchildren, Zarek, Ellason, Cayden and Clement. There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Lakeview Restaurant, 50 Lake St., Coventry, CT.
