Meredith Wayne Beck of Brooklyn, Connecticut died unexpectedly on Friday, March 11. Born December 1955, she spent her youth in Storrs where she excelled at the E. O. Smith High School. After receiving her B.A. degree at Harvard and traveling by herself all over Europe, she worked as an Employment Training Specialist in the Connecticut Department of Labor and as an Assistant to the Director of the Hartford Regional Center in the Department of Mental Retardation in the late seventies and early eighties. A life full of promise was interrupted by the onset of a severe disease of the brain. The availability of more effective medications enabled her in the nineties to leave state mental hospitals and regain a degree of normality. She was predeceased by her mother State Senator Audrey Beck. She is survived by her father, Curt, her step mother Ina Ruth, her brother Ronald and two nephews, Nathan and Elliot. A memorial will be held at Potter's Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte 195), Willimantic, Tuesday March 15 at 2 P.M.
