Maurice E. Vining Sr., 75, of N. Windham, husband of Gloria (Lord) Vining, went to be with his Lord, after an extended illness, on Saturday March 3, 2007 at 8:20pm at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 18, 1931 in Cooper, Maine, the son of Harold and Mildred (Morrison) Vining. He was a charter member of the Willimantic Church of The Nazarene and had been honored for his service to the church. Maurice had also attended the Chaplin Congregational Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six sons, Douglas Vining Sr. and his wife Rosita of Scotland, Robert Vining Sr. and his wife Dani of Willimantic, Maurice Vining Jr. and his wife Priscilla of N. Windham, Stephen Cade of Waterbury, Stephen Dougherty of New Haven and William Avery and his wife Melissa of Lisbon; two daughters, Marilyn Kelley of Ellsworth, ME. and Debra Vining of N. Windham; two sisters, Shirley Swanson of Winsted and Dorothy Bohanon of Calais, ME., 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a large loving extended family. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic Monday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00pm. Burial will be private.
