Maurice E. Slater

Maurice E. Slater, 82, of Mansfield, husband of Hilda (Polak) Slater, died Sunday August 11, 2002 at the Windham Hospital. He was born September 27, 1919 in Columbia and had lived in Mansfield most of his life. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a life member of the Willimantic V.F.W. and Elks Lodge. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 40 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Alan J. Slater of Yonkers, NY, 3 grandsons, a granddaughter, a great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Richard Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery.
