Maurice Moulton King

Maurice Moulton King, 98, of Windham Center, passed away Friday Oct. 25, 2002 at the Douglas Manor in Windham. He was born May 17, 1904 in Willimantic the son of Walter R. and Grace P. King. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Ruth M. King. He was fortunate to have had two careers. His first was with the U.S. Postal Service starting as a carrier and became Assistant Post Master. Upon retirement, he took a position as a teller of the Savings Institute and retired as it's president. Mr. King served many years on the Windham Board of Finance. He was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Windham, a life member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311 and the Windham Fish and Game Club. He was also a member of the Twin X Club. He is survived by a daughter Phyllis LaFlamme of Windham, a son and daughter in law Walter and JoAnn King of Manchester, VT., a sister Harriet Drechsel of Houston, TX., 9 grandchildren; James and Cynthia LaFlamme, Sandra and David Dunnack, Doris and Don Haggerty, Stephen and Belinda LaFlamme, Timothy LaFlamme, Scott and Marybeth LaFlamme, Kenneth and Karen King, Patricia and Rick Trachte and Sheryl Palmer, 16 great grandchildren, Nicole LaFlamme, Kristen Schuch, Emily, Hannah and Annie Dunnack, Melinda and Christopher Wilson, Jadyn LaFlamme, Sam and Morgan LaFlamme, Alex and Cassie King, Jillian Trachte, Mikaela Schmitt and Christopher Taglieri and a great great granddaughter Annalieze Wilson. His family was very important to him and he will be greatly missed by us all. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church of Windham, Windham Center, with the Rev. James Beesley Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Windham Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the First Congregational Church of Windham, Windham Center, Ct. 06280 or to a charity of the donor?s choice.
