Maurice Mike Dancosse

October 18, 1941 — August 20, 2003

Maurice P. "Mike" Dancosse, 61, of Chaplin, died Wednesday August 20, 2003 at the Windham Hospital. He was born October 18, 1941 in Willimantic, the son of the late Gerard and Blanche (Vachon) Dancosse and had lived in Willimantic most of his life. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 27 years at the University of Connecticut and was most recently employed by the Willimantic Chronicle. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Dancosse served as an umpire for many Windham High School baseball games and also for the Little League. He was a longtime member of the Franco-American Civic and Social club, serving 3 terms as president and was also a member of the local Moose Lodge. Survivors include 2 children, Zaundra Trudeau and her husband Marc of Chaplin, Maurice Dancosse Jr. also of Chaplin, 3 brothers, Robert Dancosse of Windham Center, Henry Dancosse of NJ and Gerard Dancosse of Mansfield, 3 grandchildren, Natasha Trudeau, Marc Trudeau and Kylie Dancosse, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 5 brothers. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Valley St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., P.O. Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.
