Maureen Lawlor Obituary
Maureen Theresa Lawlor (Brink) 87 of Hampton CT, beloved wife of 68 years to the late Robert Lawlor, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 7, 2024. Born in Hartford on November 20, 1936, daughter of the late Elizabeth and Charles Brink. Besides her husband and parents, Maureen was predeceased by her sisters Betty Ann Jacobucci and Nancy Coman and grandson, Michael “Mikey” Yuscavitch.

Maureen met the love of her life, Robert, at a very young age and they never looked back. After getting married, and settling down in Windsor, they went on to have 3 beautiful children. Maureen worked at The Aetna for 12 years until they decided to move to Hampton and build their “Little Piece of Heaven”

Since moving to Hampton, being the devout Catholic, she found the Lady of Lourdes Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She would carry out weekly readings, offer the sacraments and even bring the sacraments to those unable to receive them at church. Outside of church, Maureen was an avid scrabble player and loved partaking in anything that would test her knowledge. Maureen loved being with her husband whether at the casino or watching every UConn Women’s basketball game, they were “two peas in a pod”. Above all though, her true pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She truly loved being a part of every aspect of their lives. Whether it was sleepovers, first days of school, sporting events, a listening ear or to wipe away a tear, she was always present. Maureen was truly one of a kind and God broke the mold when He made her.

When her husband passed away in October of 2023, a large part of Maureen went with him. In true Maureen spirit, she put on a brave face and continued on, but ultimately, she missed her husband so much it broke her heart and wanted to be with him once again. Now she has been reunited with her husband in Heaven just in time to spend their 69th wedding anniversary together again.

Maureen is survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Mozdzierz and three children, Nanci Lawlor, Kathy Sweet and partner Bill Smith, Robert Lawlor and wife Stephanie; 12 grandchildren, Dennis and wife Sharon, Tara and husband Robert, Mikey (pre-deceased), Matthew, Kylie, Nicole, Ashleigh and husband Jason, Courtney, Morgan and husband Jesse, Jonathan and wife Samantha, Deanna and fiancé Max and Skylar and 16 great grandchildren, Emilie, Collin, Dylan, Alex, Conlin, Lexie, Abigail, Quinn, Annie, Jack, Teagan, Killian, Rowan and Colette.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff and care team at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehab - especially nurses Lynn and Michelle and CNA’s Sara and Justine. They all cared for Maureen with care and compassion and treated her as if she was their family.

There are no calling hours.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 41 Cedar Swamp Rd. Hampton, CT.  Burial will be held at a later date.
