Lifelong Windham resident Maryrose M. (Dondero) Asselin, succumbed to her infirmities on March 30th, 2005 at Hartford Hospital. Visiting hours will commence at 10:00 a.m. and a funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 2nd, 2005 at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) in Willimantic. Maryrose, the former Mrs. Oliver J.X. Asselin, Sr., is survived by her children John T. Asselin-Connolly of New London, Laurel Asselin of Willimantic, Raymond Asselin of Texas and Oliver J. Asselin, Jr. of Florida. She is also survived by her brother Charles J. Dondero and his wife Betty, her niece Linda Bessette of Windham and her nephews Charles H. Dondero also of Windham and Harry Olsen of Manchester, along with her daughter in law Susan M. Asselin-Connolly of New London, 8 grandchildren and her dearest friends James and Francis Thornton of Florida. Ms. Asselin was a 1942 Graduate of Windham High School. She commenced her employment career with the Vo-Ag Department of the University of Connecticut at Storrs and thereafter worked as an auditor and head bookkeeper for a number of local enterprises, including the former Brand Rex Wire and Cable Company, until her retirement in 1996. Maryrose was for many years an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the V.F.W. and the Loyal Order of Moose, and of the 50 s Plus Club and the Princess Yolanda Lodge of Windham. In lieu of flowers, her friends and family are encouraged to make donations in her name to St. Joseph s Church of Willimantic, where she was a communicant for many, many years.
