Mary Elizabeth Turcotte

May 17, 1931 — March 10, 2014

Mary E. Turcotte (Uhouse) of Storrs, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014. She was born May 17,1931,in Ashford, CT. She was surrounded by her loving family at the end. Mary is reunited with her mother and father, the late Elizabeth and Joseph Uhouse Sr. of Mansfield. Mary's family includes her husband Bert Turcotte, daughters Linda Maidelis and husband Tali, Laurie Wasiele and husband Larry, grandchildren Meghan Maidelis and partner Melissa Tierney, Mara Harris and husband Morgan and Shelby Wasiele. She also leaves her brother Joseph Uhouse Jr. and his wife Martha and her nephews, Joseph, Gary, and Keith Uhouse. Mary resided in Storrs most of her life but enjoyed her second home on the Cape, in Osterville, MA. She pursued her childhood dream of teaching and received her bachelor's degree from Willimantic State College (ECSU) and her Masters from UCONN. She shared her love of literature with her students at Annie Vinton and Mansfield Middle School for over twenty five years. In retirement, she continued her passions for reading, quilting, rug hooking and knitting. Family was foremost in her life and we will all miss her dearly. Calling hours are Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 1 to 2:30 with remembrance following 2:30 to 3:00 at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Our special thanks go out to all the Hospice staff that guided us through this process.
