Mary Slowik, 94, of Windham, widow of John Slowik, died peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2004. She was born January 13, 1910 in Willimantic, the daughter of Stanley and Katherine (Kozak) Stygar and had lived in Windham all her life. Mary was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. She is survived by 5 children, Lucille Hancharyk of Windham, Edward Slowik of Somers, Elinor Isenberg of Norwich, Wilfred Michael Slowik of Willimantic and Donald Slowik of Chaplin, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son John Slowik, a sister, Anna Jaksina, 2 brothers, Dr. Joseph Stygar, Dr. Michael Stygar and a grandson. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Friday at 10:15 a.m. prior to the procession to her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic.
