Mary Augusta (Manning) Miner, 88, of Rte. 32, North Franklin, died Tuesday February 22, 2005 at the William Backus Hospital. She was born in Franklin May 11, 1916, the daughter of Reuben and Maud Manning. She was married to Denison W. Miner on October 9, 1937, who predeceased her in 1992. Gusty, as she preferred to be known, is survived by her four children and their spouses, Denison Jr. and Elaine Miner of Dale City, VA, Grace and Robert Wettemann of Stillwater, OK., James and Marge Miner of Franklin, and Alden and Linda Miner, also of Franklin; ten grandchildren,9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors also include two of her eight siblings, Julia Dutcher of Ledyard and Myron Manning of Lebanon. Throughout her life, Gusty was known for her dedication to community activities. She was a lifelong member of the Franklin Congregational Church, Franklin Historical Society, Franklin Fire Auxiliary and Ladies Auxiliary Franklin VFW. She was also a longtime supporter of 4-H programs and was a member of the Franklin Grange since 1931. Gusty will always be remembered for her annual Easter Egg hunt which touched the lives of many Franklin children. Her strong interest in family history led to her deep involvement in the Manning-Robinson Reunion and the Thomas Minor Society. Gusty was a fountain of knowledge and lore that will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Sunday between 4:00 and 6:00pm. Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00am at the Franklin Congregational Church, Meetinghouse Hill Rd., Franklin, with burial following in the Gager Cemetery, Franklin.
