Mary Ann "Nana" (Greeno) Melady of Columbia, passed away November 5, 2013 surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. She was born May 25, 1948 to Lionel and Helen (Winski) Greeno. She is survived by her husband of 30 years Stephen Melady. Mary Ann was predeceased by her daughter Wendy Jo. She is also survived by her daughter Correen Baker married to Kord Baker, her son James Clarke and fiance Jennifer Ivan, her sister Laura McConnell married to Daniel McConnell, five grandchildren, Jaimie, Jessica, Jacqueline, Alex and Eric; two great grandchildren, Tahj and Leslie; two nieces, Rebecca and Kelsey; a great nephew Mallack and her aunt Mary. Mary Ann graduated from Windham High School, Windham Technical School as an LPN and Three Rivers Community College as an RN. She worked at Windham Community Memorial Hospital and was a Care Coordinator at several Convalescent Homes. She was also a volunteer EMT at Columbia Volunteer Fire Department. She loved watching the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and UConn Basketball games. She also loved sitting outside enjoying nature, collecting bears and other things, going to the beach, playing bingo, and gathering with her family. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center, St. Joseph Living Center and the Hospice Unit at the Visiting Nurse & Health Services for all their care. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday Nov. 12, 2013 between 11:00 and 12:00pm with a service beginning at 12:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
