Mary Ellen Dyjak Obituary
Mary Ellen Dyjak, 81, of Mansfield, CT died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Backus Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Mary Ellen Meikle, on April 26, 1942, she grew up on a farm in Mansfield with her parents Martha (Lux) and Thomas and her five siblings, Tommy, Bobby, Carol, Davy and Phillip. Mary Ellen retired from the Department of Revenue Services for the State of CT, where she worked for 19 years as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Audit. After retiring Mary Ellen and her husband Butch bought a cabin in Pittsburg, NH where they spent many wonderful years enjoying the outdoors with their children and grandchildren. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Robert “Butch” Dyjak and her loving grandson Nicholas Hardegen. Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters Bonnie Pitts and her husband Charlie of Tolland, CT, Cheryl Crotty and her husband Tony of South Windham, CT and Karen Hardegen of Manchester, CT. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Sandy, six grandchildren, Lily, Kaitlyn and her husband Nate, Jon and his wife Becca, Josh and his wife Andreea, Alex and Adam. Three great granddaughters Alma, Layla and Ramona, two brothers, Robert and his wife Mary and Phillip and his wife Rosemary and two sisters-in law, Janet Meikle and Linda Kaminski.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT.
