Mary P. Landeck, 74, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on the morning of July 2nd, with her loving husband of 54 years, Michael, by her side.
Mary was born on October 6, 1950, in Stafford Springs, CT, to the late James E. and Mabel W. Parker. A 1968 graduate of E.O. Smith High School, she continued her education with post-graduate courses in accounting and business management. Known for her strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, Mary’s most rewarding role was serving as the sexton for the Town of Mansfield for nearly 15 years, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to the people she served.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; her son, Christopher (Kerri); her daughter, Jennifer (Steven); and her much-adored granddaughter, Julia. She is also survived by her sister, Janet, her nephew, David, and numerous cousins.
Mary cherished visiting her children and granddaughter in Virginia and New Hampshire. She found great joy in tending to her flower gardens, knitting, reading, and birdwatching in her backyard. She also led a senior exercise program several times a week, staying active and engaged in her community.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Potter’s Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT 06226. Interment and a celebration of life will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to WAIM, Covenant Soup Kitchen, or the American Heart Association.
