Mary Kennan Obituary
Mary McCarthy Kennan, of Hampton, Connecticut passed away February 28, 2023. Mary was born in Gardner, Massachusetts, May 19, 1931 to David and Charlotte McCarthy. She was predeceased by husband, Dana Kennan and her loving daughter Mary "Kim" (Mark) McCormick. She is survived by her two sons, Jon (Roseann) Kennan, Rob (Kathleen) Kennan and her three daughters, Grace Couchon, Joanne Amill and Joy (Gordon) Hourihan. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
Mary was an active member of the Hampton Congregational Church, serving on many committees. She is a former Cub Scout and Brownie leader, worked at Hampton Grammar School and the Hampton Town Hall. Memorably, Mary and her husband Dana were Santa and Mrs. Claus at the East Brook Mall for many seasons. Mary and Dana also served the Meals on Wheels organization.
In addition to her extensive volunteer work, Mary loved gardening and sewing and was an avid Jeopardy viewer, often calling out the answers before the contestants did. Mary’s Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 10:00am at the Hampton Congregational Church, 263 Main St. Hampton. Burial will be held at a later date.
