Mary Hackenschmidt

Mary Hackenschmidt, 90, of Ashford, died on Tuesday Aug. 19, 2003 at home. She was the widow of Robert Hackenschmidt. Mary was born on January 22, 1913 in Perth Amboy, N.J. , the daughter of Lydia (Miklos) and John Mihancki. She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Kendall and a brother, William Mihancki. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Bettye Goodwin, Mary Lillian Busse, Robert Mihancki, Janet Doiron and William Mihancki and her beloved cat, Puddy. She was blessed in the last few years with several dedicated care givers. Mary was a member of Ashford Grange #90, the United Baptist Church of Ashford and the Ashford Senior Citizens. She was a friend to all the animals that visited her farm over the years. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00am . Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the South Cemetery, Ashford. Pall bearers will be; Robert Mihancki, Robert Doiron, Bruce Goodwin, Greg Goodwin, Charles Busse and Kevin Goodwin.
