Mary Briggs, 73, of Storrs, Connecticut, passed away at Windham Hospital on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

For over 35 years, Mary worked at UCONN Libraries Service, retiring to care for her mother.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Clayton W. and Sarah (Sherman) Briggs, as well as her brother, Clayton M. Briggs.

She is survived by her niece, Katrina Heyer, and her nephews, Dennis (Rachel) and Kenneth (Beckie) Briggs, all of whom reside in New York. Mary was also blessed with 10 great-nieces and nephews, as well as 5 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Mary also leaves behind many beloved friends who meant the world to her. Her family will be forever grateful for the kindness, care, thoughtfulness, and support of these friends. Mary truly enjoyed the time she spent with them and loved sharing their stories and memories with her family.

Mary was a kind soul who loved her family, friends, and cats with all her heart. Her fairness and willingness to help others, along with her fierce independence, were an integral part of her life. In addition to spending time with friends and family, Mary enjoyed long walks, spending time in her yard, watching General Hospital, and enjoying Hallmark movies.

Family and friends are warmly invited to gather for calling hours on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT 06226. A private burial ceremony will be celebrated by Mary's family following calling hours.

Mary will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
