Martha E. Stebner

Martha E. Stebner, 90, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep Friday morning Dec. 13, 2013. She was born April 26, 1923 in Lebanon the daughter of Daniel and Ida (Zahn) Stebner and was a lifelong resident. Martha graduated from Lyman High School in 1941 where she was a member of the Eastern Connecticut champion basketball team. She spent her working career at the American Thread Co. retiring in 1985 from the payroll dept. She also helped her brothers with the bookkeeping on the Stebner Farm in Lebanon and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Sports continued to play a role in Martha's life with golfing at Willimantic Country Club and bowling in several leagues in which she won several trophies. She also enjoyed spending time at the family home in Maine. Martha is survived by her brother Walter Stebner of Lebanon and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur and his wife Joyce. A visitation will be held on Tuesday Dec. 17, 2013 between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 328 Village Hill Rd., Lebanon, with interment following in New Lebanon Cemetery.
