Mark Andrew Philip Fitzsimmons (Fitzy), 54,?passed on August 2, 2017 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He leaves his loving wife of 34 years, Denise (Taft) Fitzsimmons; two sons, Devin and Benjamin Fitzsimmons, and their longtime companions, Bri and Rebecca respectively; one grandson, Aden; three brothers, Chris, David, and twin brother Charlie and their wives and numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. Mark touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.?He will be especially missed by his second mom and mother in law Beverly Taft. He was predeceased by his daughter, Faline; his parents, Edward Peter Fitzsimmons and Irene Carolyn Nyquist and his?father in law George ?Dick? Taft who provided much love and guidance in Mark?s life. He was a family man, who worked hard to provide a stable environment for his children. He was employed at Columbia Manufacturing Inc. since he was 19 years old until his sickness in November. Mark enjoyed outdoor sports, most of all mountain biking, running, and volleyball. He always had dogs in his life, most recently Mylo, who accompanied him for hundreds of miles on bike rides and runs in the forest. A celebration of Mark?s life will be held at the Beckish Senior Center 188 Rte. 66 Columbia, CT on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the humane society of your choice or the Willimantic Soup Kitchen 220 Valley St. Willimantic, CT 06226.
