Marion G. (Guy) Cahill

Marion (Guy) Zurmuhlen Cahill, 95, beloved wife of the late John W. Cahill, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2018 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on August 9, 1922 in Warren, MA, the daughter of the late William and Jessie Guy. Marion was a veteran of the World War II women?s branch of the United States Naval Reserves, WAVES, serving from 1944 to 1946. She retired from Brand-Rex Brintec Corp in 1990 after 25 years of service. Marion was the matriarch of a large loving family. She is survived by her children; daughters Sandi (Rene) Lizee of Storrs, CT, Susan (Normand) Lizee of Columbia, CT, Nancy McAlee of Vernon, CT, Shirley (Andrew) Burgie of Coventry, CT, and son, Daniel Zurmuhlen of North Windham, CT, her grandchildren, Stacy (Ronald ) Vargas of Plainfield, CT, Steven Zurmuhlen of Lebanon, CT, Shannon (John) Fahey of Shelton, CT, Jeffrey Lizee of Chicago, IL, Aaron Lizee of Staten Island, NY, Jessie McAlee of Rockville, CT, Melanie Zurmuhlen of Hoboken, NJ, Emily Zurmuhlen of Windham, CT, Nicholas Zurmuhlen of Willimantic, CT, Ashley (Colin) Dunnack of Columbia, CT, Danielle Burgie of Windham, CT, and great-grandchildren Hannah, Emma, Connor and Cara Fahey, and Owen and Gavin Dunnack. Marion also leaves step-children Jack Cahill of Richmond, VA, Frank (Anne) Cahill of Fairfax, VA, their daughter Emily, Kathleen (Timothy) Cullen of Brewster, NY, their daughters Trinity and Ava, Michael (Daphne) Cahill of Tokyo Japan. She leaves her sisters, Elizabeth (Robert) Worthington of East Brookfield, MA, Carolyn Weigel of Cocoa, FL, and brother, David (Susanne) Guy of Harvard, MA., and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Marion is predeceased by her first husband, Milton B. Zurmuhlen, son, Gerry Zurmuhlen, granddaughter, Sarah Zurmuhlen, and brother-in-law, Alvin Weigel. Marion?s family would like to thank the entire staff at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for their loving care. People who care for the elderly are very special and have such an impact on the entire family. We would also like to thank the Hospice Team from Hartford Healthcare at Home for their kindness and invaluable information. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at The First Congregational Church, 1171 Main St, Coventry, CT, burial to follow at 2:00pm in the Storrs Cemetery, North Eagleville Rd, Storrs, CT.
