Marilyn A Gilbert

Marilyn A. (Porter) Gilbert, 79 , of School St. Coventry, wife of Bernard W. Gilbert, died Saturday evening, April 6, 2002 at the Windham Hospital. She was born April 24, 1922 in Farmington, Maine, the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Davis) Porter. Marilyn attended Hairdressing School in Maine and operated a shop there prior to moving to Coventry where she worked out of her home while raising her family. She and Bernard enjoyed Square Dancing and Ball Room Dancing. Marilyn was a member of the First Congregational Church of Coventry and the Jackson St. Senior Center in Willimantic. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed bowling in the Seniors League at Willi Bowl. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Frank Deming and his wife Denise of Enfield, 3 daughters; Patricia Cosma of Vernon, Sherrie Peroni and her husband Joseph of Lebanon, and Deborah Blanchard of Norwich, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Frederic Deming. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00pm at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St. (Rte. 31) Coventry, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Coventry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to either the First Congregational Church, 1171 Main St. Coventry, Ct. 06238 or to the Alzheimer?s Assoc. Northern Ct. Chapter, 96 Oak St. Hartford, Ct. 06106.
