Mariette C. Selavka

Mariette C. Selavka, 80, of Pleasure Hill Road, Franklin, died Sunday Sept. 14, 2003 at her home. She was born May 17, 1923 in Willimantic the daughter of Julius D. and Alemda (Perkins) Conant. She was a graduate of the Willimantic State Teacher's College and received her Master's Degree from the University of Connecticut. Mrs. Selavka taught at Natchaug School in Willimantic for over 36 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Willimantic Teacher's Assoc., the Retired Teachers of Willimantic and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Willimantic. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Selavka, 2 brothers in law; Jack Selavka of Fairfield and Carl Selavka of Hadley, MA., 2 sisters in law; Marjorie Heise of Seattle, WA. and Anne Terry of Willimantic and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church, 199 Valley St. Willimantic with the Rev. Richard Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to the First Congregational Church, 199 Valley St. Willimantic,Ct. 06226.
