Marie Ann Underwood

Marie Ann (Maheu) Underwood, 72, of Columbia CT, passed away peacefully Wednesday December 21, 2011. She was born December 30, 1938 in Willimantic to Henry and Alice Maheu. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Milton E. Underwood in January, 2011. She is survived by her son, Allen E. Underwood of Columbia, her daughter Brenda Chilcott and husband David of Sheridan WY, a sister Marcella Burton, three brothers, Raymond, Wayne and Leo Maheu and several nieces and nephews. Marie worked for Electro Motive for several years and for Mansfield Public Schools for 23 years before retiring to enjoy her home, family, flowers and search-a-word puzzles. She was an avid fan of the UConn Men's and Women's Basketball teams and the Red Sox. Allen and Brenda would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Manchester Hospital for their excellent care of their mother and for the support and aid from their family during this difficult time. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday May 21, 2012 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic between 10:00 and 11:00am with the funeral service begining at 11:00am. Interment will then take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Columbia Volunteer Fire Dept. P.O. Box 26, Columbia, CT. 06237.
