Marie Simpson

August 8, 1925 — December 9, 2005

Marie (Temple) Simpson, 80, formerly of Columbia and Mansfield Center, widow of Roy Simpson, died Friday Dec. 9, 2005 at her home at Laurel Gardens in Glastonbury. She was born Aug. 8, 1925 in Pittsfield, Maine. She had been employed as the business manager for WT Grant and Co. in Willimantic for several years. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Columbia Congregational Church for over 50 years. She loved camping, family gatherings, sewing, reading and crossword puzzles. She also loved traveling in the mid west, south west, Hawaii, Great Britain and on cruises. She is survived by 3 children, Sandra Panicali and her husband Dennis of Acton, MA., Steve Simpson and his wife Teresa of Ellington and David Simpson and his wife Ann of Willington; 6 grandchildren, a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Ramona Murray in 1992. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 3:00 and 5:00pm . The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at the Columbia Congregational Church, Rte. 87, Columbia, with the Rev. Robert Woodward officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Columbia. Memorial donations in place of floral tributes are suggested to Hospice c/o VITAS Healthcare Corp., 255 Pitkin St., E. Hartford, CT. 06108.
