Margaret Shea Obituary
Margaret Elizabeth (Toth) Shea, passed away at age 94 years after a short illness. She was born May 25, 1928 in Bristol, CT, and was the wife of the late Daniel J. Shea, and the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Spisak) Toth of Bristol, CT. Margaret attended Hillyer College (now University of Hartford) and Ventura College in Ventura, CA, and was a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State College (University), with a Bachelors in English.
Margaret and Daniel were married in Bristol, CT in 1956 and in 1957, they became parents of twin boys, Daniel and Joseph Shea.
Margaret loved music and languages and was a fan of theater, especially Broadway shows. She and her husband, along with her sons, traveled and lived in numerous parts of the United States before settling back in Connecticut. Margaret worked in various positions (including substitute teaching and a stint at UCONN as a stenographer), before arriving at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she spent over 20 years as clerical support staff. She retired from Eastern as an Administrative Assistant in 1992. During her time there, Margaret also did duty as a recorder for the Connecticut State Employees Association.
Besides her sons, Margaret also leaves behind her daughters-in-law, Molly Palmer (Daniel’s wife) and Cheryl Le Beau (Joseph’s wife), as well as her two grandchildren by Dan and Molly, Patricia and Derek Shea. She also leaves her brothers Stephen Toth of Burlington, CT and Joseph Toth of Media, PA, and all their families. She was loved by all and will be missed.
Margaret’s family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30am to 10:30am on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic with a funeral service beginning at 10:30am. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. For a memorial guestbook please visit
