Margaret Therrien

Margaret (Clark) "Peg" Therrien, 84, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Windham Hospital. She was born on March 29, 1925 in Cheshire. She was the youngest child of Arthur and Julia (Winchell) Clark. Peg graduated from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 as an R.N. and worked at Hartford Hospital over the next 30 years in the OR and Radiology departments, and later for several local convalescent homes. After retiring from nursing she pursued her love of gardening and farming with her husband and family. Peg is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years Oliver John Therrien. She is also survived by her loving son, Gary Therrien and his wife Linda, and her loving daughter Linda DeCastro and her husband Herminio. She was predeceased by her son Mark. Peg also leaves 3 loving grandchildren; Jennifer, Michelle, Melissa and her husband Brian. Melissa had also been Peg's devoted caregiver. Peg is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, whom she adored: Raymond, Steven, Bailey, Ariel, Catelen, Isabelle and Madison. She is also survived by a sister Marion Hamlin, a brother Arthur Clark, and a large extended family and many dear friends, including 2 special caregivers, Evelyn Morales and Naomi Rosado. The family would like to thank the staff of Windham Hospital for their care for Peg and her family. Services for Peg will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009, with a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rt. 195) in Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 35 Valley St., Willimantic, CT, followed by burial and committal services at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
