Margaret H. Kochiss

Margaret H. Kochiss, 98, of Chaplin, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at St. Joseph's Living Center in Windham where she resided for the last ten years. She was born in Bridgeport. As a very young teen she worked in the family-owned florist business, Sylvan Gardens. In her later years she and her son, Ron, ran the florist until she moved to Chaplin in 1986. She is survived by her three children: Robert Dubos and his wife, Patricia of Chaplin, Kenneth Dubos and his wife, Joanna of Ft. Meyers, Florida and Ronald Dubos and his wife, Mary Ann of Woodbury, CT; six grandchildren: Stacey, Kristina and husband Keith Wolff of Ellington, Michelle and husband Karsten Sauer of San Diego, Christopher Dubos and wife Jennifer of Georgia, David Dubos and wife, Traci of East Hampton and Amy and husband Sergio Calvano of Northfield; and ten great-grandchildren: Maya, Jacob, Katerina and Aidan of Georgia, Jackson and Devin of Ellington, Callie and Sydney of East Hampton and Benito and Andrew of Northfield. Husbands, Jack Dubos and John Kochiss and a brother, Edward Patrick predecease her. Margaret will be remembered as a loving but no nonsense mother and boss in charge wherever she was (ask the caregivers at St. Joe's), floral artist, lover of dogs and cats and compassionate caregiver to countless people over her lifetime. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, August 30th at 1:00PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel in Storrs, CT. Family and friends are asked to gather at the church. A reception will follow in the church center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Living Center, 14 Club Road, Windham, CT 06280. The family is indebted to all those at the Living Center, who were truly extended family and wonderful caregivers of Margaret over the years.
