Margaret R. James

July 22, 1958 — April 23, 2014

Margaret "Peggy" James passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2014 following a valiant battle with cancer. Her children and dear friends, Victoria Bennett and Randy Barclay, were at her side. Peggy was born on July 22, 1958, the daughter of Carl and Mary Provenzano. Raised in Bristol, Connecticut, Peggy graduated from St. Paul Catholic High School in 1976. She married the love of her life, Ward James, on November 21,1992. The couple lived in Ashford, Connecticut until Ward's passing in 2005. Together, they have three children, Joshua, Cara, and Luke. A devoted mother, Peggy was actively involved in the extracurricular activities of her children and served as Boy Scout Cub Master for Pack 92 for many years. Peggy is remembered as a generous soul, a symbol of strength and inspiration to her children, and a dedicated and loyal friend. Her compassion for humans was only surpassed by her love of animals. Peggy served as the Animal Control Officer in Ashford, Connecticut and opened her heart and home to many animals in need. She is survived by her children, Joshua Cameron, Cara Evelyn, and Luke Anthony of Ashford; sister Carlene Dunn and her husband Michael Dunn of Easton, Massachusetts; and her nephew, Matthew Dunn of Easton, Massachusetts. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3 at 11:00 AM at the Living Proof Church in Ashford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Children Support Fund: Submit checks to the First Niagara Bank at 6 Storrs Road in trust of the James Children Fund.
