Margaret Macdermid Davis

MARGARET MACDERMID DAVIS October 14, 1928 - October 11, 2013 Margaret ("Peg") MacDermid Davis, a long-time resident of Storrs, CT, died peacefully on October 11 at her home. Peg was born in Trenton, NJ on October 14, 1928 to Edith Godwin MacDermid, a nurse, and Lynden E. MacDermid, a physician. She grew up in Bordentown, NJ where she attended Bordentown public schools and then St. Mary's Hall. Peg graduated from Connecticut College in 1950 with a degree in political science and thereafter obtained her master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she met her future husband, I. Ridgway Davis, whom she married in September 1951. She lived in Storrs since 1955 where she raised her two sons. She was active in a number of organizations, including the PEO, the Day-Trippers group and the Storrs Congregational Church, as well as serving as Treasurer of her Connecticut College class. Peg is survived by her husband of 62 years, her sons Douglas of New York City and Lynden of Meriden, CT, and seven grandchildren, Evan, Gordon, Annie, Andrew, Luke, Adam and Amanda. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Connecticut College. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic, assisted with arrangements.
