Margaret Dunbar Carlsen

Margaret (Monahan) Dunbar Carlsen, 93, of Willimantic, widow of Keith C. Carlsen and Winthrop C. Dunbar, died December 25, 2007 at Haven Health Center in Willimantic. She was born in Palmer, MA on February 6, 1914, the daughter of Michael Monahan and Katherine (Owens) Monahan. She leaves three daughters, Diana Dunbar, Kathleen Clairmont and her husband Roger, Deborah McLaughlin and her husband James, her grandchildren, Erin Okamoto, Chad Clairmont, Maura Tynes, Margaret Roylance and Abby McLaughlin, two great grandchildren, Connor and Kyle Clairmont, several nieces and nephews. She was active in local politics throughout most of her life, serving as Town of Windham Democratic Registrar of Voters for many years and was a lifetime member of the Democratic Town Committee. She was also a member of V.F.W. Post 1724 Ladies Auxiliary and had served as State Department President. She was predeceased by sisters Katherine Witek, Mary Robert, Dorothy Krug, AnneMarie Monahan and a brother, Thomas O. Monahan. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. There are no calling hours.
