Marcia Ancona Obituary
Marcia Rouse Ancona, 77, of Coventry, Connecticut passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in her home. Marcia was born in Hartford on August 15, 1946, and grew up in Glastonbury. She was the only child of the late Charles Rouse and Lillian (Kancler) Rouse.
Marcia spent her earlier years working as a secretary, however, her true passions were music and art. She worked as an organist, a choir leader, and a piano teacher, and attended Hartt Music School. In her free time, she created beautiful paintings. One day, while working as a church organist, she met the man who would later become the love of her life, Benjamin Ancona, an Italian tenor singer. After they married, Marcia dedicated her life to her family and they continued their musical journey performing together in churches, at restaurants, and for special occasions. Ben and Marcia loved making music and their CD “Il Cavalière of Italian Songs” was proudly circulated to countless friends and family. After having their daughter, Maria, the two bought a farm and found joy in gardening and caring for their animals. They raised their daughter to appreciate a simple farm life, filled with love.
Marcia was a dedicated and loving wife, an exceptional mother who loved unconditionally, and a goofy grammy to her sweetheart grandson Nino, whom she loved dearly.
Marcia was adored by everyone in her community. Her outgoing personality, silliness, and intense laughter would brighten anyone’s day. She is deeply missed.
She is survived by her only daughter, Maria Ancona, her only grandson, Beniamino (Nino) Flores-Ancona, of North Windham, CT, and her uncle, Danny Kancler, of Glastonbury, CT.
Marcia rests peacefully in heaven with her husband Ben, who passed on March 18, 2022. Her art and their music are beautiful legacies that live on, endlessly.
Calling hours for Marcia were held privately in July, 2024.
