Marceline "Martha" Shimansky, of Windham, died Monday Jan. 18, 2010 at Windham Hospital at age 91. She was born in Waterbury. In her early years she worked in many restaurants no longer existing. Martha moved to Meriden where she was employed by International Silver Co. until her retirement. She was proud to have also waitressed at Yankee Silversmith Restaurant. Martha eventually retired to the family homestead in Windham, taking great pride in restoring her home and was known for her lovely flower gardens. She is survived by her brother John J. Schumansky and was predeceased by her brother James "Nim" and sister Julia Cothron. Survivors also include niece Patt Schlehofer and her husband Frank whom Martha showed much kindness, their children, Deirdre Schlehofer and her husband Werner Zorn , Frank Schlehofer and his wife Lily and Dean Schlehofer. Martha is additionally survived by niece Audry Shea and numerous other nieces and nephews. She also had a wonderful caring neighbor and friend, Mark Wilson, who enabled Martha to maintain her independence all these years. Martha requested no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday Jan. 21st in Windham Center Cemetery, Rte 203, Windham. Please omit flowers.
