Mara Anthony Obituary
Mara Reneslacis Anthony, 91, of Willimantic, CT, passed away December 15, 2022, following a brief stay at the St. Joseph’s Living Center in Windham.

Mara was born in Latvia on July 30, 1930 and relocated to the United States on September 27, 1950.  She was a member of the Latvian Lutheran Church.

Mara is survived by her daughter, Sharon Anthony Blair of Prospect, CT and Sharon’s husband Brian Blair and their two daughters Katherine Noella Blair and Nicole Christina Blair. Mara is also survived by her son-in-law Dan Peach who was married to Mara’s younger daughter, Ingrid Paulina Anthony Peach, who passed away on January 18, 2018. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Christopher Peach and his two children Liam and Alexis Peach and Collin Peach and his wife, Christine Peach, and their sons Nicolas and Finnley Peach. Mara was also predeceased by her ex-husband, Irving George Anthony, and her longtime companion and love Janis (John) Cemers.  She was also predeceased by two brothers, Juris and Janis Reneslacis.

We are all incredibly grateful and appreciative of all the love and care Mara bestowed on all of us throughout all her life.   She was very family oriented and did not hesitate to want to be involved in her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s lives.   She will be missed by all of us.

Mara Anthony also loved animals and would often request we bring our pets when visiting her.  She lived independently until her recent brief illness and her independence was an inspiration to all of us regarding how to live our lives.  Education was especially important to her, and we have tried to follow her examples of learning and reading books, which she did throughout her lifetime.   She would frequently state how proud she was of all of us and our accomplishments.

Mara requested a private family gathering and there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund or a local library in honor of her love for reading and inspiring her children through their frequent visits to the library.  A private family thought of memories of her is shared by all of us when we see dandelions.
