Manuel Swass Jr., 72, of Chaplin, husband of Virginia (Godwin) Swass, died Wednesday September 8, 2004 at the Windham Hospital. He was born October 29, 1931 in Fall River, MA, the son of Manuel and Frances (Moitozo) Swass Sr. and had lived in Chaplin for over 40 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Rockville Moose Club and the Rockville Italian-American Club where he and his wife enjoyed playing darts. Prior to his retirement he was employed for many years in the fuel cell division of United Technologies in South Windsor. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Yolanda and John Edwards of Willimantic, 2 grandchildren, Cory and Melisa Edwards, a brother, Charles Swass of Rhode Island, 3 sisters, Rose Bixby of Delaware, Madeline Lewis and Carol Lewis, both of Rhode Island, several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Phillip Cemetery, Ashford.
