Marjorie (Lawrence) Roach, “Marj” 92 of Coventry, passed away peaceful and without pain at home, Saturday March 15th, 2025 with her daughter at her side and her favorite music playing in the background.
Born April 20th, 1932 in Lawrence Massachusetts to Eleanor Gertrude (Siefert) Lawrence and John Lawrence. After the passing of her mother in 1937 she was brought to Clairmont, New Hampshire to be raised by her Grandparents.
After completing Nursing School, Marj had a lengthy and successful career trailblazing psychiatric care at the Institute of Living, Hartford Hospital and being the head nurse to bring a behavioral health wing to Manchester Hospital in 1972 before switching to being a social and political public servant, where she holds the record for the most years served in the Town of Coventry. Additionally, sitting (chairman) on nearly 20 boards stretching across eastern Connecticut.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband David Roach in 1990, and all younger siblings John Lawrence, Karl (Buddy) Lawrence and Glennis (Lawrence) Hickey. She leaves behind her only daughter Colleen Liebre and husband Ernest Liebre of Florida, and her only granddaughter Sarah Riddick and husband Jonathan Riddick of Coventry. Marjorie also leaves behind many New England based nieces and nephews. And an endless count of devoted and loyal friends and coworkers.
She will be remembered for her direct and forthright social approach and everlasting impact on the surrounding communities.
A church service will be held in her honored Sunday March 23rd, 2025 at the First Congregational Church at 2pm 1171 Main St, Coventry, CT 06238. All are welcome to join the family in remembrance followed by a reception until 4pm. Flowers may be sent to the church and if you choose a charitable donation can be made to any nature & animal conservatory or sanctuaries in her honor.
